"Knowledge Transfer Inside the Firm" Prof. Gabriel Szulanski

About the workshop:

Knowledge Transfer inside the Firm: which transfers to tackle and how to choose the right mode of transfer to tackle them

Knowledge fuels productivity, growth, and survival. Organizations whose units learn from one another’s experience are more productive, competitive, and more likely to survive than their counterparts less adept at knowledge transfer. However, organizations often lack expertise in the management of knowledge transfer and often fail to realize its potential. Recent evidence suggests that knowledge transfer often remains poorly managed as organizations continue to make inefficient investments in knowledge transfer and often fail to preserve and transfer valuable practices and capabilities.

In this webinar we will share recent insights on central questions for managers. The first set of questions helps managers decide how to invest in the right transfers. Assuming that there are plentiful opportunities to leverage knowledge and best practice internally, the first set of questions focuses on learning to decide which opportunities to tackle and which opportunities to pass. The second set of questions will focus on how to transfer valuable practices and capabilities effectively by choosing the right mode of transfer.

Gabriel Szulanski is Professor of Strategy at INSEAD, where he also earned his PhD in Strategy.
